Cibotaru, who is also the ambassador of Moldova to Luxembourg, said that the decision is a reflection of Moldova's successes in managing the energy, economic, social, security, and refugee crises.

*"Moldova has shown great resilience in the face of these challenges, and this has earned us a positive image in Belgium,"* Cibotaru said. *"The decision to open an embassy is a sign of Belgium's commitment to supporting Moldova as it pursues its European integration goals."*

Cibotaru said that Moldova's priority is to obtain full membership in the European Union. The country has been an associate member of the EU since 2014.
