Moldova's energy security outlook for 2024 received a boost on Wednesday, with state-owned Energocom poised to finalise electricity procurement contracts by December 29.

This development followed the final meeting of the Emergency Situations Commission (CSE) under the current state of emergency, which will not be extended.

*"The decisions adopted by the CSE today address crucial needs in both the energy and agricultural sectors,"* stated Daniel Vodă, Government Spokesperson. He elaborated on the energy front, saying, *"Moldovagaz and Energocom have agreed on a natural gas supply contract covering January through April 2024. This ensures licensed system operators receive gas at an estimated price of 550 euros per cubic metre."* Additionally, ensuring nationwide energy security remains a priority, as Vodă emphasised, *"Moldovagaz will dedicate its entire gas supply to consumers across the Dniester River throughout this period."*

Marking a significant shift, Vodă declared, *"This was the final CSE meeting under the state of emergency, which is concluding as scheduled. The commission will only reconvene if urgent circumstances necessitate it."*
