# Over 50% of Moldovan Researchers Are Women

According to data from the Ministry of Education, half of all female researchers hold a PhD title, and one in three holds a habilitation doctorate. The fewest women researchers work in the fields of natural sciences, agriculture, and engineering, said Adriana Cazacu, State Secretary at the Ministry of Education and Research.

*"The humanities see the highest representation of women researchers at 61.3%, followed by medical sciences with 60.2%, and social and economic sciences with 56.4%. However, there are three other areas dominated by men: agricultural sciences, engineering sciences, and technologies and natural sciences,"* said Adriana Cazacu.

According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, in 2022 there were 2,809 researchers in Moldova, of which 1,429 were women.
