# Moldova Opens Education Institute, Boosts Teacher Training

Moldova has launched its first National Institute for Education and Leadership (INEL).

The institute will prioritise continuous training for teachers within the country's education system and will manage a network of 1000 mentors, according to Education and Research Minister Dan Perciun. President Maia Sandu also participated in the launch event.

*"From tackling school violence and bullying to integrating digitalization, we have numerous challenges that this institute will help us address,"* Perciun stated. *"The National Institute for Education and Leadership will provide critical support to guide our educational institutions in the desired direction."*

President Sandu emphasised the institute's goal of developing critical thinking skills in both students and educators.

*"While maths, history, and Romanian language are essential, it's equally important to ensure every child – regardless of their academic strengths – becomes empathetic, responsible, respects the rights of others, and knows how to defend their own,"* Sandu said. *"INEL will initially train 1000 mentors and trainers from Moldova's best teachers. They will work nationwide, supporting the professional development of their colleagues."*

Viorica Andrițchi will lead the National Institute for Education and Leadership. Its establishment is one of 20 priorities outlined by the Government and the Presidency in their *"Building a European Moldova"* national plan.
