# Romania to sign a new gas supply contract with Azerbaijan

The contract is valid from 1 April 2023 to 1 April 2024, reports [G4Media](https://www.g4media.ro/english).

Both the Southern Gas Corridor and the future undersea transmission cable for electricity produced in Azerbaijan from renewable sources, projects supported by the European Commission, will contribute significantly to the European Union's energy security.

Romania is constantly seeking new sources of natural gas supply in order to overcome its dependence on Russian gas.
