# Tel Aviv rallies demand hostage release from Hamas

Thousands of people demonstrated in Tel Aviv and other Israeli cities, calling for the release of all hostages still held by the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas in the Gaza Strip.

On Saturday evening, the crowd marched from the so-called Hostages Square in the city center to the U.S. Embassy branch in Tel Aviv.

"Six months ago, I saw the sun again after 471 days spent in Hamas tunnels, and I took my first breath of air that wasn't just fear," said former hostage Doron Steinbrecher, a young Israeli woman with Romanian citizenship, who spoke at the central rally in Tel Aviv, according to a report in The Times of Israel.

"Bibi and Trump, make the deal! So we can restore Israel's greatness!" she urged, as quoted by EFE. The young woman added that "the first step towards our recovery, towards our ability to rise again, is for all the hostages to return."

Rally-goers urged President Donald Trump to pressure Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to conclude the indirect ceasefire talks with Hamas.

Negotiations in Qatar's capital, Doha, have been dragging on for weeks, according to dpa, cited by Agerpres. Diplomats from Qatar, Egypt, and the U.S. are acting as mediators.

The day before, Donald Trump had announced in Washington that ten hostages would be released soon. However, the basis for his optimism was not immediately clear.
