President Nicușor Dan of Romania made a private visit to the Republic of Moldova on Saturday, August 9. He joined President Maia Sandu at the Lupilor Festival, an event held in the "Orheiul Vechi" Cultural-Natural Reserve from August 8 to 10. Both leaders were pleasantly surprised by the festivities.

The visit was unannounced and only came to light when festival participants filmed or took photos with Nicușor Dan and Maia Sandu, sharing the images on social media.

Neither the two presidents, nor the presidential administrations in Chișinău and Bucharest, nor the festival organizers made any announcements regarding this unexpected visit of the Romanian head of state to the Republic of Moldova.
