Commercial banks in Moldova issued €424.5 million (approx. 8.32 billion MDL) in new financing last month, according to data released by the National Bank of Moldova.

The corporate sector absorbed nearly 65% of the total loan volume, while retail borrowers accounted for the remaining share.

**Corporate financing dominates demand**

Non-financial commercial enterprises drove the bulk of corporate borrowing, securing approximately 5.4 billion MDL (approx. EUR 275.5 million) in credit during the period.

**Retail lending and interest rates**

Retail borrowers contracted nearly 3 billion MDL (approx. EUR 153.1 million) in total financing, primarily driven by consumer loans and real estate mortgages.

Average interest rates for mortgage loans stood at 8%, whereas consumer loans carried an average interest rate of nearly 11%. The majority of consumer financing was issued with repayment terms ranging between two and five years.
