The White House stated that the decision aims to protect US national security, boost domestic manufacturing, and reduce reliance on foreign supply chains.

**Scope of the new measures**

Under the proclamation, a 100% tariff will apply to drones with a takeoff weight exceeding 25 kilograms, models equipped with thermal imaging cameras, docking stations, and specific critical components.

Smaller drone imports will face a 25% tariff rate.

**Impact on global market dominance**

The policy directly impacts Chinese technology firm DJI. Founded in 2006, the company currently controls over two-thirds of the global drone market, according to industry research.

The majority of these new tariff measures are scheduled to take effect on September 3.
