# Moldovan judokas dominate at the Lima Grand Prix

Moldovan judoka Vlad Mitru delivered a fantastic performance at the Grand Prix in Lima, Peru. The 22-year-old athlete emerged as the tournament champion in the under-73-kilogram weight category. This victory marks the fourth medal for judokas from the Republic of Moldova at the competition in Peru.

In the first phase of the competition, Mitru defeated the Finnish competitor Valtteri Olin, the Peruvian Alonso Wong, and the fourth favorite, the Moroccan Hassan Doukkali.

In the semifinals, Vlad Mitru showcased his skill by besting the well-known Brazilian Daniel Cargnin, who has two bronze medals from the Olympic Games and one silver medal from the World Championships. In the final, the Moldovan faced off against the United States representative, Jack Yonezuka.

Additionally, in Lima, Petru Pelivan secured a bronze medal in the up-to-81-kilogram weight category.

We remind you that on the first day of the competition, Radu Izvoreanu claimed the championship title after defeating another compatriot, Denis Vieru, in the final of the up to 66 kilograms category.
