The Great National Dictation, scheduled for August 31 in honor of Romanian Language Day, is expanding its accessibility. For the first time, the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC) will provide adapted conditions to enable people with visual impairments to participate in the contest.

The measure aims to transform the event into a space of inclusion, respect, and equal opportunities for all citizens.

The initiative was launched in response to requests from young people with visual impairments who wanted to participate in this important event dedicated to promoting the Romanian language, according to the Ministry of Education and Research (MEC).

Since registration began, over 2,000 individuals have already signed up. The organizers anticipate that approximately 3,500 people will participate in total, with 2,500 attending in the Great National Assembly Square in Chisinau and an additional 1,000 in various districts across the country.

The fourth edition of the Great National Dictation will start at 9:00 AM, with registration opening at 7:30 AM.

Organizers will provide sheets of paper, pens, water, and caps for participants.

The submissions will be reviewed by a committee comprising linguists, specialists from higher education institutions, and representatives from the Ministry of Education and Research.

The evaluation process will adhere to the standards outlined in the third edition of the Orthographic, Orthoepic, and Morphological Dictionary of the Romanian Language, published in 2022.

Afterwards, the works will be scanned and emailed to participants so they can review their mistakes.

Awards will be given to the best results at a public event.
