# Nato delegates visit Chisinau to bolster defense and airspace

> Delegates from the Nato Political Committee have arrived in Chisinau for their first official visit to Moldova in more than a decade. The officials met with President Maia Sandu to discuss bilateral cooperation, national resilience, defense capabilities, and wider regional security.

Delegates from the Nato Political Committee have arrived in Chisinau for their first official visit to Moldova in more than a decade. The officials met with President Maia Sandu to discuss bilateral cooperation, national resilience, defense capabilities, and wider regional security.

President Sandu voiced appreciation for the assistance provided by Nato and its member states. She underscored that Allied cooperation remains vital for modernizing Moldova's armed forces, enhancing cybersecurity, and countering hybrid threats.

**Strengthening airspace and anti-drone defense**

According to the Moldovan Presidency, ongoing partnership programs support military training and technical modernization. These initiatives focus heavily on radar surveillance systems and defensive measures against unauthorized drone incursions.

The discussions also addressed repeated violations of Moldovan airspace by Russian missiles and drones, alongside persistent cyberattacks and disinformation campaigns. President Sandu urged sustained international cooperation to shield critical infrastructure and strengthen public resilience.

**Regional solidarity and independence milestone**

President Sandu also thanked Nato allies for their resolute support for Ukraine, describing Ukrainian security as indispensable to Moldova's own stability.

The landmark visit coincides with the eve of Moldova's 35th anniversary of its declaration of independence. Troops from partner nations will join Moldovan service members to march in the official Independence Day military parade.
