# Moldovan soldier proposes atop armored vehicle at national parade

**Surprise before the parade**

As thousands of troops gathered for the national celebrations, members of the Special Forces Battalion formed a ceremonial semicircle in the parade grounds. An engagement ring and a bouquet of flowers were delivered aboard a high-mobility armored vehicle (HMAV), after which the serviceman, identified as Vlad, knelt to ask for his partner's hand.

The surprise drew an immediate *"Yes"* from the young woman amid cheers from his fellow soldiers.

**Chance encounter turned lifetime bond**

The couple's relationship began serendipitously in their Chișinău apartment building, where he lived on the seventh floor and she on the twelfth. Despite hailing from the same district outside the capital, the two only crossed paths after moving into the same residential block.

*“About two years ago, we met in our building's stairwell,”* Vlad said. *“Later, we discovered we even shared an old childhood photograph from our home district, but destiny brought us together in Chișinău. As Moldova marks its independence, I decided this was the exact moment to start a new chapter in my life.”*

His fiancée expressed joy at the unexpected public proposal.

*“It is an indescribable feeling—I feel truly loved,”* she said. *“Life alongside a military serviceman has its challenges, but I choose to stand by him because he supports me, loves me, and is always there for me.”*
