Moldova marked the 35th anniversary of its National Army on Thursday, as Defense Minister Anatolie Nosatîi praised service members and highlighted ongoing military modernization to protect civilian security and regional stability.

**Focus on people and modernization**

Speaking on the anniversary held under the slogan *“An army for 35 years,”* Nosatîi recognized the contributions of active-duty troops, civilian personnel, and veterans who established the armed forces. He stressed that while the defense sector has transformed substantially since 1991, its core mission remains preserving peace and protecting citizens.

*“Today, the National Army marks 35 years of existence,”* Nosatîi said. *“On this occasion, I extend my gratitude to those who laid the foundations of this institution, as well as those who shaped its history.”*

The defense minister emphasized that institutional resilience relies on personnel deployed both domestically and in international peacekeeping missions. He noted that civilian experts, reservists, military families, and international partners have played an essential role in advancing reforms.

*“It is about the people within the institution—women and men on duty, at home and abroad, fulfilling every mission with dedication,”* Nosatîi said. *“Thanks to these shared efforts, the National Army presented a renewed posture at the Independence Day military parade.”*

**International peacekeeping and regional partnerships**

Nosatîi pointed out that expanding Moldova’s participation in multinational peacekeeping operations remains a strategic priority. Through joint security deployments alongside Western partners, Chisinau aims to reinforce regional stability while demonstrating its commitment as a reliable security provider.

*“We must carry the name of the Republic of Moldova across the globe and demonstrate that our country contributes meaningfully to collective peacekeeping and security alongside external partners,”* the defense minister said.

Concluding his address, the defense minister called for unity and sustained discipline across all military branches to ensure national defense readiness. He urged service members to continue their duties with firm dedication amid broader regional security challenges.

*“For 35 years, we have been one army—built for the people through trust and solidarity,”* Nosatîi said. *“Our work must proceed with the same determination and consistency for the welfare of the National Army and the security of our citizens.”*
