**Leaf maintenance and pest inspections**

Wiping foliage removes dust that blocks vital autumn sunlight. Smooth leaves benefit from a gentle wipe with a damp cloth, while natural polish can be achieved using the inner peel of a fresh banana.

This cleaning process also enables thorough pest inspections. Growers should inspect the underside of leaves, stems, and potting soil before transitioning outdoor containers back inside.

**Watering, light, and feeding adjustments**

Irrigation demands drop as cooler temperatures allow soil to retain moisture longer. Water should be added until it drains freely through base holes, with excess runoff emptied immediately from saucers.

Sunlight exposure requires strategic repositioning away from cold drafts. While cacti require drier conditions and ferns crave ambient moisture, fertilizer application should taper off as dormancy begins.
