# Russian strike damages Odesa tower and hits university in Kyiv

> Russian forces struck a 19-story residential high-rise in Odessa shortly after midnight, injuring three civilians, including a three-year-old child, as strikes targeted several Ukrainian regions overnight.

Russian forces struck a 19-story residential high-rise in Odessa shortly after midnight, injuring three civilians, including a three-year-old child, as strikes targeted several Ukrainian regions overnight.

The guided missile strike triggered a fire on the upper levels of the apartment tower, causing extensive structural destruction across three floors. Emergency rescue workers and municipal emergency crews rushed to the scene to extinguish the blaze and assist residents trapped inside.

**Severe residential destruction in Odesa**

City officials reported that the blast tore through living quarters between the 14th and 16th floors, forcing emergency evacuations.

*“Apartments on floors 14 to 16 were damaged, and experts are currently assessing the extent of destruction,”* said Oleksii Botezat, Deputy Mayor of Odessa. *“Unfortunately, three people were injured, including a child. Two victims were transported to municipal hospitals, while another received medical care on site.”*

A secondary strike hit another residential neighbourhood in Odessa during the same barrage, destroying multiple single-family homes.

**Air alerts and university strike in Kyiv**

Air raid sirens sounded across several regions overnight, including the southern district centers of Bolhrad, Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi, and Izmail near the Danube river border.

In the capital city of Kyiv, a separate Russian strike hit a four-story university building. The educational facility was unoccupied at the time of the impact, resulting in no civilian casualties despite severe structural damage to the compound.
