# The Nistru River's water level has dropped significantly in the north

> Water levels in the Nistru have dropped significantly in the north of the Republic of Moldova due to a lack of precipitation in Ukraine; at the Cosăuți intake station, the water level has already fallen by 10 centimeters. Minister of the Environment Gheorghe Hajder says the situation is being constantly monitored and that there is currently no threat to the drinking water supply.

Water levels in the Nistru have dropped significantly in the north of the Republic of Moldova due to a lack of precipitation in Ukraine; at the Cosăuți intake station, the water level has already fallen by 10 centimeters. Minister of the Environment Gheorghe Hajder says the situation is being constantly monitored and that there is currently no threat to the drinking water supply.

"The situation is worsening. The lack of rainfall in Ukraine is increasingly affecting us. Water levels in the Nistru in the north of the country have dropped significantly," the Minister of the Environment wrote in a Facebook post.

According to Gherghe Hajder, the situation is being monitored, including at the Naslavcea hydrological station, where the Nistru's current water level was photographed.

The Minister stated that authorities are in contact with the operator of the intake station at Cosăuți, where the water level has dropped by 10 centimeters. "At this moment, there is no danger," Hajder noted.

Authorities continue to monitor changes in water levels. The Minister of the Environment has asked all water and sewage utility operators to closely monitor flow rates and report any need for support to the National Crisis Management Center and the Ministry of the Environment.

"I call upon all water and sewage utility operators to closely monitor flow rates and communicate directly with the National Crisis Management Center and the Ministry of the Environment regarding any necessary support, in order to ensure an uninterrupted supply of drinking water to citizens," the Minister stated.

Gherghe Hajder said he would soon provide more information on the situation on the Nistru and urged the public to use water responsibly.
