# Study ranks Paris top European remote work hub

Paris, Lisbon, and London topped a recent European remote work index, led by high-speed internet, abundant coworking spaces, and diverse leisure options, according to a British price-comparison platform.

The study evaluated European destinations across several key metrics, including broadband and mobile connection speeds, coworking infrastructure, accommodation costs, and cultural attractions. Researchers also factored in everyday expenses, such as the average prices of coffee and beer.

**High connectivity versus living expenses**

Paris claimed the top spot due to its exceptional internet connectivity and world-renowned cultural heritage, trailing only Rome in tourist attractions. However, high accommodation rates and elevated daily expenses represent the primary drawbacks for mobile professionals based in the French capital.

Lisbon secured second place as a budget-friendly alternative, attracting freelancers and digital nomads with high-speed connectivity and lower living expenses. Monthly apartment rentals start at approximately €240, while a coffee averages €3, complemented by sunny weather and outdoor leisure activities.

London ranked third among Europe's top remote-work destinations, offering over 560 coworking spaces and more than 4,400 attractions. Despite these amenities, living costs remain substantial, with a cappuccino averaging nearly €5 and accommodation ranking among the priciest in the analysis.

**Infrastructure hurdles in bottom-ranked cities**

At the opposite end of the spectrum, Salzburg finished last with an aggregate score of 10 points. The Austrian city provides only seven coworking hubs, while apartment rental costs start at an elevated €2,200 per month.

Munich placed second from the bottom with 20 points, weighed down by entry rental prices of €1,430 monthly. In addition to high living expenses, sluggish internet connectivity in the Bavarian capital poses significant challenges for remote operations.
