The new management aims to modernize the institution, address internal salary discrepancies, and strengthen responsiveness to audience demands as Moldova advances along its European integration path.

Establishing a permanent bureau in Brussels represents a strategic step to secure primary reporting on European Union institutions and convey the direct impact of European decisions to domestic audiences.

*“I consider opening a permanent TRM bureau in Brussels to be a timely move,”* said Director General Ecaterina Cheptanaru. *“The office will supply content across television, radio, and all digital platforms, reinforcing TRM’s role as the primary national news source covering our European integration process.”*

**Preserving audiovisual heritage and cyber defense**

Safeguarding institutional memory stands out as another urgent objective, with roughly 300 hours of historical archives currently preserved on analog film slated for rapid digital conversion.

*“We hold a treasure here at the public broadcaster—what we call our audiovisual heritage—and digitizing those roughly 300 hours of archives within the first months is essential,”* said Cheptanaru. *“They must become readily accessible for younger generations to discover Moldova's recent history.”*

Bolstering technological and cyber infrastructure forms an equally critical operational pillar. Management plans proactive risk containment to prevent disruptions to broadcasting continuity and support newsroom operations.

**Prudent public spending and wage reform**

Cheptanaru affirmed a commitment to rigorous stewardship of public resources, pledging to optimize operational and administrative overhead without lowering editorial quality.

*“I take responsibility for the efficient and rigorous management of public funds,”* said Cheptanaru. *“Savings will be channeled into internal content production, technological upgrades, professional staff development, and a gradual correction of salary imbalances.”*

Cheptanaru secured the directorship following an open competition organized by TRM's Supervisory Board, bringing more than a decade of broadcast media experience after previously serving as deputy director general in charge of television. The leadership role became vacant after the resignation of former director general Vlad Țurcanu on May 18, 2026.
