# Trucks in Moldova may need special rearview mirrors

> Trucks registered in the Republic of Moldova may be required to install special rear-view mirrors to reduce blind spots and accident risk. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development has drafted a proposal to this effect.

Trucks registered in the Republic of Moldova may be required to install special rear-view mirrors to reduce blind spots and accident risk. The Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development has drafted a proposal to this effect.

The requirements will apply to trucks weighing more than 3.5 tonnes.

The mirrors will help drivers spot pedestrians, cyclists, and motorcyclists more easily, especially when turning.

The draft also provides exemptions for trucks registered before 2000 and certain vehicles where installation is technically impossible.

The estimated cost of fitting the mirrors ranges from 1,500 to 3,800 lei.

The amendments are expected to take effect on January 1, 2029, while the requirement to install mirrors on trucks already registered will apply from January 1, 2031.
