Voters in Moldova's autonomous region of Gagauzia will cast ballots across 67 polling stations on November 15 to elect both their regional legislature and the new Governor (Bashkan).

The administrative capital of Comrat will host the highest concentration of polling sites with 12 locations, followed by Vulcanesti with nine and Ceadir-Lunga with seven. Larger rural communities such as Copceac and Baurci will operate four and three voting centers respectively, while most remaining settlements will open one or two stations. Electoral authorities have advised residents to verify their designated precinct assignments ahead of polling day.

**Contested race for regional legislature**

The vote for the People's Assembly of Gagauzia will take place across 35 single-member constituencies. Candidate registration closed on October 12, leaving 135 contenders in the race for the 35 legislative seats.

Party-backed candidates account for 42 of the registered contenders (31.1%), while 93 are running as independents (68.9%). Women represent 17% of the legislative field with 23 candidates, compared to 112 men.

**Eight contenders seek regional governorship**

The gubernatorial ballot features eight certified candidates, including one woman. Three nominees are backed by political parties, while five are running as independents.

Former lawmaker Fiodor Gagauz has secured the backing of the Party of Socialists of the Republic of Moldova (PSRM). Ivan Cîlcic was nominated by the Gagauz People's Party, and Petru Vlah enters the race under the banner of the New Historical Option Political Party.

The independent field includes several high-profile figures, led by Alexandr Stoianoglo, a member of the "Alternativa" parliamentary faction and former Prosecutor General of Moldova. Other independent contenders are former Democratic lawmaker Cornel Dudnic, former Socialist lawmaker Ivanna Koksal, Copceac Mayor Oleg Garizan, and Comrat Mayor Serghei Anastasov.

Official data from the State Register of Voters showed 129,243 eligible citizens registered in the Autonomous Territorial Unit of Gagauzia as of September 9.
