Millions of lei secured for infrastructure upgrades are transforming the village of Cârnățeni in the Căușeni district. With major projects underway, local authorities aim to revitalize the community and encourage those who have left to return home.

One ongoing project involves renovating the ceremonial hall at the House of Culture, supported by the second edition of the "European Village" program.

"We are currently implementing a project at the House of Culture under the second edition of the 'European Village' program: a major overhaul of the ceremonial hall. It is a 3.8 million lei project. We are essentially in the final stretch," stated Oleg Savca, the mayor of Cârnățeni village, during the "Bună Dimineața" program on Moldova 1 TV.

Local authorities hope to complete the work by the end of October, with the ceremonial hall's inauguration planned for the village's patron saint day, celebrated on November 21.

Significant investments are also being directed toward the village's road infrastructure. Through the "Europe is Close" project, sidewalks have been constructed along the central road—covering a distance of approximately four kilometers—and a new layer of asphalt has been laid over an area of 14,000 square meters.

"Along the four-kilometer stretch of the central road that runs through our village, sidewalks have been built, and a new layer of asphalt has been applied over 14,000 square meters," said Oleg Savca. The mayor stated that the road underwent major repairs after transit traffic was redirected to the bypass road for the village of Cârnățeni and the town of Căușeni, which opened in 2015.

According to him, the investment should ensure better traffic conditions for the coming decades.

In addition to modernizing infrastructure, the local administration aims to improve the standard of living to make the locality more attractive to families and those who have moved abroad.

"It is clear that, as in any locality in the Republic of Moldova, the birth rate is falling and the number of inhabitants is declining; however, we hope that by creating the right conditions, we can draw people back home," added Oleg Savca.

Moreover, there have been encouraging signs recently: new children have begun attending kindergarten, and some people have shown interest in buying homes in the area.

The authorities hope that investments in infrastructure and public institutions will, over time, contribute to the revitalization of the community.
