Adolescents from all districts of the Republic of Moldova will be informed about the prevention of human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and the role of immunization in preventing cancers associated with this virus. The campaign "My choice – a future protected from cancer" aims to increase confidence in vaccination and help young people and parents access verified medical information.

Volunteers from the *Youth Klinic Moldova* network will carry out activities in schools and communities through presentations, interactive games, and peer-to-peer discussions.

The campaign will also include refugee adolescents, and, according to the Ministry of Health, young people will actively participate in creating online content—such as videos, reels, and articles—for publication.

The initiative aims to help adolescents distinguish accurate medical information from myths about HPV and vaccination, while also encouraging open dialogue with healthcare professionals.

In the Republic of Moldova, HPV vaccination is offered free of charge to girls and boys aged 9 to 26.

According to the campaign organisers, individuals aged 9 to 14 receive a single dose, while those aged 15 to 26 receive two doses, administered six months apart.

Nevertheless, vaccine coverage remains low. Based on the same data, just over 46% of girls aged 10 to 14 are vaccinated against HPV, whereas the rate among boys is only about 4%.

Increasing immunization rates, combined with timely screening and treatment, is essential for achieving the goal of eliminating cervical cancer as a public health issue.

Young people and parents with questions regarding HPV infection and vaccination are encouraged to speak with their family doctor or visit the nearest Youth-Friendly Health Center within the *Youth Klinic Moldova* network.

For information and counseling, they can call the *Youth Klinic Support Line* toll-free at **0 800 800 22** or submit questions via the *YKChat* online counseling service, available on Telegram. ***

The campaign “My Choice – A Future Protected from Cancer” is implemented by UNICEF, the Public Association “Health for Youth” and the *Youth Klinic Moldova* network, in partnership with the Ministry of Health and the Ministry of Education and Research.

The initiative is supported financially by the Government of Germany, through the KfW Development Bank, and by the Government of the United Kingdom.
