Moldova's Electronic Governance Agency (AGE) says 21 public services remain offline after a cyberattack, while 61 have been restored as authorities work to identify affected citizens and assess the data breach.

**Authorities work to restore remaining services**

The 61 restored public services are available again through the EVO government portal. Security checks are continuing before the remaining services can resume operations.

"Twenty-one public services operated by several providers remain temporarily unavailable. Their restoration is being carried out gradually, once security checks have been completed," the Electronic Governance Agency said.

AGE said that although government digital infrastructure continues to face unauthorized access attempts, checks conducted so far have identified no new instances of data extraction from the systems managed by the agency.

Meanwhile, AGE and other competent authorities are analysing the information compromised during the cyberattack. They are compiling lists according to the categories of data accessed without authorization and checking them for overlapping or inconsistent records.

The aim is to identify the individuals affected and establish a mechanism for notifying them individually.

AGE said preliminary findings would not be made public until they had been verified, to prevent inaccurate information from spreading and causing further confusion and concern among citizens.

The agency said it would provide updates on service restoration, security measures and confirmed investigation findings, including arrangements for notifying affected individuals.

**Data linked to around 750,000 identification numbers compromised**

Personal data associated with approximately 750,000 national identification numbers (IDNPs) was extracted without authorization during a cyberattack targeting government information systems between October 19 and 23.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the compromised information includes names, identification numbers, family details, pension records, driving licence information and some financial data.

The unauthorized data extraction was halted on October 23 at 11:30 a.m., although further attempts to gain unauthorized access continued afterwards.

Following the incident, AGE ordered security checks across 82 digital services and temporarily suspended vulnerable systems.

Authorities have said that investigations found no unauthorized changes to state registries and that bank card details were not compromised. They have also stressed that knowing someone's IBAN alone does not allow access to their bank account or unauthorized transfers.

Several institutions are involved in investigating the source and full extent of the attack, including AGE, the Cybersecurity Agency, the Information Technology and Cybersecurity Service, the Intelligence and Security Service and other competent authorities.

**Criminal investigation launched**

The Chisinau Municipal Prosecutor's Office announced on Friday, October 30, that it had opened a criminal investigation into the case over reasonable suspicion of violations of privacy and the disclosure of information from a criminal investigation.

**AGE director steps down following cyberattack**

In response to the cyberattack, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan announced on October 28 that AGE director Nicoleta Colomeeț would step down.

The decision was reached by mutual agreement, with Artiom Cociu appointed to lead the agency on an interim basis.

The prime minister said AGE's priority in the coming period should be securing digital public services rather than focusing solely on promoting their use.
