Russian authorities temporarily closed Moscow’s Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve on Saturday after the U.S. Embassy warned of a credible threat of a mass-casualty event at the site.

The decision followed information shared by U.S. intelligence services with their Russian counterparts about a possible terrorist attack. Russia’s Federal Security Service (FSB) confirmed receiving the information through established partner channels.

According to Russian media outlet Ostorozhno Media, the entire museum reserve was closed and a significant police presence was reported at the site. The Baza Telegram channel, citing its own sources, reported that the park was expected to remain closed for two days.

Reuters also reported, citing Russia’s RIA news agency, that the complex had been temporarily closed and access restricted.

**Embassy warns of credible mass-casualty threat**

Earlier on Saturday, the U.S. Embassy in Moscow issued a security alert advising people to avoid the museum reserve.

*“The U.S. Embassy in Moscow is aware of a credible threat of a mass casualty event TODAY October 31, at the Tsaritsyno Museum Reserve in Moscow,”* the diplomatic mission said.

The embassy added that the U.S. government was coordinating with the appropriate Russian authorities in response to the threat.

Russian state media subsequently reported that the FSB had received information from the United States about preparations for a possible terrorist attack. The security service said it was taking appropriate measures but did not disclose further details.

**Previous US warning preceded Crocus City Hall attack**

The United States had previously warned Russia about a possible terrorist attack in Moscow. On March 7, 2024, the U.S. Embassy issued a security alert advising American citizens to avoid large gatherings and remain vigilant.

On March 22, 2024, gunmen attacked the Crocus City Hall concert venue near Moscow. The attack killed 151 people and injured 609 others, according to an investigation by independent Russian outlet Mediazona.

Russian authorities had previously described the information provided by the United States as too general to identify those planning the attack.
