The assessment published by Brussels reflects the results achieved by the authorities in Chișinău in the process of European integration, the Parliament Speaker said.

"Yesterday, the European Commission published its annual enlargement package, outlining the progress made by each candidate country on its path toward EU membership. The report on the Republic of Moldova reflects the work carried out over the past year to bring the country in line with European Union standards, and the figures speak for themselves. Over the past year, Moldova has made progress across all 33 negotiating chapters," Igor Grosu said at the start of the parliamentary session on November 5.

Continuing the transformations necessary for European integration and adhering to the established timeline remain objectives the parliamentary majority is committed to.

*"This is the result of an enormous amount of work, the reforms we are implementing, and the efforts made by thousands of people within state institutions. I thank everyone who works day in and day out to ensure Moldova becomes a member state of the European Union. As we promised during the last elections, we will work to maintain the current pace of reforms in order to conclude accession negotiations with the European Union by the beginning of 2028,"* the Speaker added.

According to the 2024 enlargement report published on November 4, the Republic of Moldova has advanced to a higher level of preparedness in 25 of the 33 chapters examined. The best results were observed in the areas of foreign, security, and defense policy, while agriculture, environmental protection, and financial and budgetary provisions remain among the sectors requiring further effort.

Following this assessment, the Republic of Moldova ranks among the four candidate countries that have made the most progress in the accession process. The European Commission considers the timeline proposed by Chișinău for concluding negotiations to be ambitious, yet achievable, provided that the authorities continue to implement reforms.

Also on November 4, the European Commission presented a roadmap according to which the Republic of Moldova could provisionally close 25 negotiating chapters throughout 2027—nine in the first half of the year and another 16 in the second. Adherence to this schedule depends on meeting the conditions established for each area, including those related to the rule of law.

Currently, the Republic of Moldova has opened four of the six negotiating clusters, which encompass 24 chapters.

The European Commission has recommended that member states approve the opening of the final two clusters by the end of 2026, noting that the country has met the necessary conditions for this stage.
