The Party of Socialists (PSRM) is preparing a motion of no confidence, party leader Igor Dodon announced. He criticized Prime Minister Vasile Tofan for failing to present a 100-day progress report to Parliament. Government spokesperson Dumitru Ciorici responded that the law imposes no such obligation, urging the Socialists to drop what he called “political smoke screens” and focus on issues that matter to citizens.

Igor Dodon said on Friday, November 6, that the motion would be prepared over the coming days and would be registered in Parliament on Monday or Tuesday. To initiate such a motion, at least 25 members of parliament must sign. In this context, the Socialist leader also called upon other opposition parliamentary factions to join the initiative.

According to Igor Dodon, the motion of no confidence aims to summon Prime Minister Vasile Tofan and the entire Cabinet of Ministers before the members of parliament to present a report on the Government's activities.

Meanwhile, the Government spokesperson clarified that the Prime Minister will present an annual report to Parliament in accordance with legal provisions.

"We recommend that the PSRM [Socialist Party] deputies read the law, which clearly stipulates that the Prime Minister's annual report is to be presented to Parliament the following year," noted Dumitru Ciorici.

Furthermore, he suggested that the Socialists set aside political disputes and focus on addressing the problems faced by the population.

"We urge them to abandon political smokescreens and attend to matters that actually matter to the citizens," the Government representative said.

On November 5, Prime Minister Vasile Tofan presented a summary of the Government’s first 100 days in office, highlighting 182 specific achievements and actions. These include the repair of approximately 140 kilometers of roads, the construction of 285 kilometers of water supply infrastructure, and investments in 25 vocational education institutions.

The Prime Minister reported growth in the agricultural and industrial sectors, as well as in exports, alongside the formal hiring of nearly 10,000 individuals. The administration’s key priorities include administrative-territorial reform and improving the efficiency of state-owned enterprises.

The press conference was tense. Several members of parliament from the "Democracy at Home" Party and the Communist Party attended the event, insisting on questioning the Prime Minister and demanding explanations for what they perceive as the administration's failures during his first three months in office.

The Prime Minister did not deny the existence of various challenges, emphasizing that he welcomes criticism when it is well-founded. Tofan acknowledged that the primary challenge remains translating reforms and investments into tangible results for the citizens.

The Tofan Government took office on July 22, 2026, following the swearing-in ceremony, which followed a parliamentary vote on July 21.
