Chisinau City Hall will continue to pay residents compensation for light and heat
Chisinau City Hall will continue to pay compensation to the capital's residents until the end of the heating season, Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban announced today.
"We will continue to pay, like the 40 percent, compensations for the cold season. I understand that the central authority, the government, will no longer pay these compensations. The City Hall will continue to pay them as long as it is provided for by the regulation in the cold season," the mayor said.
Last week, Labour and Social Protection Minister Alexei Buzu said that people would not receive energy compensation for April, as it was only expected from November to March. Authorities say the total amount of compensation is 5 billion lei, double compared to last year.
