Hamburg fire still not extinguished after more than 24 hours
A fire that broke out in Hamburg in northern Germany on Sunday has not been extinguished even 27 hours after it started, a police spokesman said Monday morning, quoted by dpa. The official estimated that firefighters would probably continue their battle with the blaze until the end of the day. He was unable to specify the cause of the fire or the amount of damage, but said there were no casualties.

The fire broke out early Sunday morning in a car dealership warehouse complex in the Rothenburgsort district on the banks of the River Elbe. First vehicles, washing machines and other goods stored outside burned, then the fire spread to several containers of flammable liquids.
A huge cloud of black smoke covered the city centre, Germany's second largest. Authorities issued warnings about the danger of inhalation and restricted local and intercity traffic in the east for several hours.
