The draft law on the tasks of the SIS has been submitted to the Parliament for public consultation
Public consultations on the draft law on the Intelligence and Security Service (SIS) were held in Parliament today. Discussions focused on the rules in the articles setting out the powers of the Intelligence and Security Service and the Director of the institution.
The event brought together, in addition to MPs, representatives of the SIS, the Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the Ministry of Defence and civil society.
The draft law was voted in first reading and aims to ensure the independence of the SIS, review the mandate of the institution's management, clarify its tasks, etc.
The document is part of a package of laws, which also includes the draft law on counterintelligence and external intelligence activity, as well as the draft law on the amendment of the law on the status of intelligence and security officers, also voted in first reading.
