Russia has successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile

Russia has successfully tested an intercontinental ballistic missile in the south of the country, the Defense Ministry in Moscow announced Wednesday morning, offering a new warning to its enemies, Hotnews.ro reports.

The long-range missile was launched from the Kapustin Yar test area in the Astrahan region on the Caspian Sea. The tested rocket later impacted, as planned, in an area in the allied country of Kazakhstan, the ministry said, adding that the purpose was to test the missile's "combat capability".

Russia has been attacking Ukraine with missiles for more than 13 months. Meanwhile, Moscow's military rhetoric towards the West has escalated, even threatening the grim prospect of nuclear war.

Recently, the Kremlin announced it would station tactical nuclear weapons in Belarus. These weapons have a shorter range than intercontinental ballistic missiles, which can travel over 5,000 kilometres.
