Maia Sandu, after the British government's decision to sanction Șor and Plahotniuc: "The noose is tightening for the corrupt fugitives from the Republic of Moldova"
The President of the Republic of Moldova, Maia Sandu, thanks the partners for the cooperation and support offered in the fight against corrupt persons. In a message posted on her Facebook page, Maia Sandu mentions that by today's decision to include Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Şor on the sanctions list, Great Britain joins the countries that "support our anti-corruption efforts".

"The noose is tightening for the corrupt fugitives from Moldova. Today, the British Foreign Secretary released a list of 30 individuals from around the world who have committed serious abuses. This list includes Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Şor, as persons involved in serious acts of corruption and illegal financing. All assets owned by these individuals located in the United Kingdom and its territories will be frozen and they will be banned from entering the country." "The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland thus joins the countries that support our anti-corruption efforts. We are grateful for this decision, announced on the very International Anti-Corruption Day. I thank all our external partners for their cooperation and support in our fight against corruptions that have harmed our state and citizens", wrote Maia Sandu. Moldovan citizens Vladimir Plahotniuc and Ilan Șor, fugitives from Moldovan justice, were today sanctioned by the British Government under the Regulation on anti-corruption sanctions in Great Britain, announced the Embassy of the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland in Chisinau. Also today, the Ministry of Justice presented the draft of the Magnitsky Law for the Republic of Moldova, which provides for sanctions for persons on the sanctions list of other states. We remind you that at the end of October, the USA included on the sanctions list 21 individuals and entities involved in systemic corruption in the Republic of Moldova and who committed interference in the presidential and parliamentary elections in favor of the Russian Federation.
