"Tighina-Basarabeasca-Giurgiulești" railway section is being repaired
The railway section "Tighina-Basarabeasca-Giurgiulești" is being repaired. The first works have started on the "Abaclia-Ceadîr-Lunga" railway sector, the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, informed on Friday.
According to the official, the geological studies have already been completed, and currently, work is being done on the topographic elevation of the railway tracks, the installation of landmarks, the replacement of fasteners and the installation of new concrete sleepers. "After the project is completed, it will be possible to remove weight and speed restrictions. For freight trains, the traffic speed will increase up to 90 km/h, and in the case of passenger transport, the speed of the trains could increase up to 120 km/h", said the minister. According to the contract, for 4 years, a railway section of 233 km will be repaired. The total value of the project is approximately 113 million euros.
