Volodimir Zelensky visiting Poltava: It is important not to waste a single day in communicating with our partners
Ukrainian President Volodimir Zelenski, who on Tuesday visited the frontline on his way to Avdiivka, a town under siege by Russian forces, addressed Ukrainians in the evening saying he was in Poltava, the capital of the region of the same name in central Ukraine, from where he spoke by phone with the Republican leader of the US House of Representatives, Kevin McCarthy, Hotnews.ro reports.
"It's important that we don't waste a day communicating with our partners. And it was from here, from Poltava, that I spoke to Kevin McCarthy, the Speaker of the US House of Representatives," Volodimir Zelensky explained in his message on Tuesday evening, according to News.ro.
"Together, we are making the free world stronger, and every dollar invested in this force is absolutely clear and makes us accountable to our partners," said Volodimir Zelenski, who had earlier assured the US leader, according to a presidential statement, that Ukraine can account for every dollar of US aid.
Zelenski told Ukrainians that he was ending a rather long and emotional day in Poltava.
"In the morning, I was in the Donetsk region, in our Avdiivka. It is hard to see what the Russian terrorists did in this city... And I pay tribute to each of our soldiers, to all Ukrainians who held back and gradually destroyed this Russian evil for 419 days and nine years," said Zelensky, who devoted much of his evening speech to nominating and thanking those who contributed to the war effort.
He said he had a lengthy meeting in Poltava to get an update on the situation in the region. "The first priority is security and social issues, safety for educational institutions, reconstruction and securing displaced persons. There are decisions to restore the energy sector - generation and networks. There are various instructions at the working level to support the Poltava region. And we will certainly do it," Zelenski pointed out.
