Reactions between Dorin Recean and Irina Vlah at the Government meeting. The bone of contention - the Tatarstan leader's intention to enter the Republic of Moldova
The Republic of Moldova should not be associated with the war in Ukraine and the atrocities committed there by the Russian Federation, Prime Minister Dorin Recean stressed at today's Cabinet meeting. Referring to Tatarstan leader Rustam Minnihanov's intention to enter the Republic of Moldova and go to Gagauzia, Recean said the authorities would not accept the involvement of foreigners in Moldova's internal affairs. For her part, Gagauzia's Bashkan Irina Vlah said that the two regions have had a friendly relationship for over 25 years.
"Citizens who are temporary deputies and invite here those who help kill people, children, women in Ukraine have no place here. We do not associate with war. Moldova should not be associated with war and cannot be associated with these atrocities and they should not get into a quarrel with the border police and the Airport authorities. That does not stand up to them. We will not accept anyone getting involved in the internal affairs of the Republic of Moldova. Those who call the aggressors to the Republic of Moldova and temporarily have the status of MPs, I recommend them not to do it, because they will not succeed. Mrs Vlah you usually read moral lessons. I have not heard you expound on this," the prime minister said.
In reply, Gagauz Bashkan Irina Vlah said that Comrat has been working with the Tatarstan region for more than 25 years.
"Over the past 8 years, this region and the leader of this region have supported our region very much. They have provided equipment for our hospitals, computers for our schools, musical instruments for art schools. We have had good relationships and we will continue to have good relationships. I don't want to comment on the reason for the visit, but I don't understand what the connection between Mr Minnihanov and the border war is," said Irina Vlah.
On Monday, 18 April, several foreign citizens were banned from entering the Republic of Moldova on the grounds that they did not meet the conditions for crossing the state border. Among them was the leader of the Republic of Tatarstan in the Russian Federation, Rustam Minnihanov. He was due to attend a congress in Comrat at the invitation of the deputy of the People's Assembly of ATU Gagauzia,
According to legal procedures, all persons refused entry to our country have returned to their home states.
Rustam Minnihanov is a member of the Bureau of the Supreme Council of the Edinaia Rossia Party, whose de facto leader is Vladimir Putin. He is a supporter of the war in Ukraine, and earlier this year, in a meeting with the Kremlin leader, Minnikhanov reported to him that 2.5 billion rubles had been allocated from Tatarstan's budget for the war in Ukraine.
