Expert: Free movement of goods has a beneficial impact on Moldovan producers
The free movement of goods, which is one of the benefits of the EU area, has a beneficial impact on Moldovan producers, economic expert Veaceslav Ionita told Radio Moldova.
According to him, under the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement, about 80% of Moldovan exports go to the European market.
"By signing the Association Agreement, in fact, the European Union made us an offer allowing us to protect our market. Being a very weak economy, in return, they opened their market. Free airspace, when any company can come to Moldova, has meant cheaper tickets practically twice. Now people understand what it means when there are many foreign companies, when they come to Moldova, when we have opportunities to choose. The same goes for goods. The European Union has contributed about 80% to Moldova's export growth in the last seven years, of which the largest share, more than half, are from Romania", said the expert.
The amendment of the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Agreement with the EU is currently being negotiated. In an interview with Radio Moldova, MEP Dacian Ciolos said it would increase access for Moldovan products to the European market.
