Russia says it wants "mutually beneficial relations" with Moldova and accuses Chisinau of "cutting off communication channels"

Russia advocates mutually beneficial and good-neighbourly relations with the Republic of Moldova, but Chisinau has so far shown no signs that it is willing to return to dialogue with Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin said in an interview with Russia Today TV channel on Friday, reports digi24.ro.

"We are still ready for mutually beneficial relations and constructive relations with the Republic of Moldova as soon as Chisinau is ready for this as well. Unfortunately, we currently see no signs that the Moldovan government would be willing to improve its relations with the Russian Federation," the Russian diplomatic official said in the interview, according to TASS agency, quoted by Agerpres.

The Russian deputy foreign minister said the current Moldovan authorities were following an "unfriendly" policy towards Russia. "Chisinau has cut off channels of communication, continues to support the hostile policy of the West.

At the same time, the Moldovan authorities accuse us unfoundedly of interfering in their internal affairs", said Mihail Galuzin. Moscow condemns Chisinau's actions aimed at restricting Russian-language media and persecuting politicians and activists who advocate better relations with the Russian Federation, Galuzin said in the interview, quoted by TASS, adding that "we see that Chisinau's policy is not accepted by public opinion in the country".
