The Republic of Moldova will participate for the first time in the Conference of Presidents of EU Parliaments as a candidate country for accession
Speaker of Parliament Igor Grosu will attend the Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of the European Union on 24-25 April in Prague. This is the first time that the Republic of Moldova will participate in this event as a candidate country for EU membership.
The first day will see an exchange of views on Russia's war against Ukraine and the EU's response to this geopolitical context. The second session will focus on discussions on the role of the EU in the cooperation of democracies, the consequences of information warfare, protection from disinformation and security issues.
At the end of the two days of debates, the final declaration of the conference will be adopted.
In Prague, Igor Grosu will also participate in a meeting of presidents of parliaments of EU candidate countries, where they will discuss the priorities and challenges facing EU candidate countries.
The President of Parliament will also meet his counterparts from different countries and Moldovan citizens living, studying or working in the Czech Republic.
The Conference of Speakers of Parliaments of the European Union is a forum for discussion, exchange of views, information and experience on the role and responsibilities of national parliaments in the European structure, as well as the instruments of inter-parliamentary cooperation in the field of European affairs.
The meeting is attended by the Presidents of the Parliaments of the EU Member States, the President of the European Parliament and the Presidents of the Parliaments of the candidate countries.
