According to the statement, the navy was alerted by a Turkish cargo ship about a drifting mine approximately 2.5 nautical miles north of the Romanian port of Constanța, on the Black Sea.

The mine neutralised on Saturday was the fourth destroyed by the Romanian military since March. The first intervention took place in March, at a distance of approximately 70 km across from Capu Midia, the second was carried out at the end of July, in the Eforie area, at a distance of approximately 4 km from the shore, and the third mission took place in September.

Since the beginning of the war, the militaries of Turkey, Romania, Bulgaria and Ukraine have destroyed about 40 mines in the western waters of the Black Sea.

The Black Sea is crucial for the transportation of grain, oil and oil products. Its waters are shared by Bulgaria, Romania, Georgia and Turkey, as well as Ukraine and Russia, Rador reports.
