Russia's role in escalating tensions in Moldova discussed at PACE spring session

The subject of Russia's role in the escalation of tensions in the Republic of Moldova was debated at the Spring Session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE). The session was attended by Parliament's Vice-President Mihai Popsoi, the head of the national delegation to PACE, Ion Groza, and MP Natalia Davidovici, a member of the delegation. Representatives of the parliamentary opposition did not attend the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe this time.

The Vice-President of the Parliament spoke about Russian influence in our country and referred to the need for international sanctions against those who try to destabilise the situation in the Republic of Moldova. He also stressed the efforts made by the authorities to defend the state and continue the European course.

Natalia Davidovich also referred to the Russian Federation's attempts to destabilise the Republic of Moldova, stressing that "an important element in this war is propaganda, and its effects are felt by public opinion, the target being mostly Russian-speaking citizens".

The spring session of the PACE will take place from 24 to 28 April in Strasbourg.
