During his visit to Ukraine, Pavel said that what he saw in Ukraine was clearly nothing.

"I thought I would never see it so close again, especially in Europe. It's a sad sight, from the number of attacks on civilian targets there is nothing else to infer that it is intentional, because of course sometimes it can happen a navigation error or a wrong targeting, but at this number it is simply not a mistake. This is clearly the plan and it is clear: to create chaos, terror among the civilian population and, based on it, to create pressure from the people on the government to make concessions," the Czech president said.

Zuzana Caputova also condemned the Russian attacks.

"Last night's shameful attacks on Ukrainian cities, including Dnipro and Uman, in which innocent civilians were killed, remind us that we cannot afford to look the other way," she wrote on Facebook.

The Czech Republic and Slovakia are two of the countries that have been most supportive of Ukraine politically and militarily since the beginning of the Russian invasion. Slovakia handed over its air defence system to Ukraine shortly after the war began, and a year later was the first EU and NATO member country to officially confirm the delivery of fighter jets.

Subsequently, both countries supplied Ukraine with tanks and other weapons.
