The US and EU ambassadors are monitoring the elections in the Gagauz autonomy

The US ambassador, Kent Longsdon, and the EU ambassador, Janis Mazeiks, are monitoring the local elections in the Gagauz autonomy. The two diplomats met at the Central Electoral Commission in Comrat to learn about the voting process and how the media is informed.

"After visiting several polling stations, I met with US Ambassador Logsdon at the Central Electoral Commission in Comrat to learn together about the voting process and how the media is informed," Janis Mazeiks wrote on his Facebook page .

Mazeiks stated that four teams from the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova are in Comrat, Vulcanesti and Ceadîr Lunga to monitor the elections of the governor of the Gagauz autonomy.

According to the CEC, the elections of the Bascan and two deputies in the People's Assembly of the Gagauz autonomy are monitored by 75 international observers.

Thus, 11 international observers from the Embassy of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland in the Republic of Moldova, 9 international observers from the Delegation of the European Union in the Republic of Moldova and 2 international observers from the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Republic of Moldova were accredited.
