Corina Crețu: The desire of the Republic of Moldova to become a member of the EU will materialize. This depends primarily on reforms
The European Union must support the Republic of Moldova in the process of European integration, of course alongside Ukraine, because this is the aspiration of the people, the sovereign aspiration, said MEP Corina Crețu in an interview for TVR Moldova.
According to her, with the help of European experts, but also with the help of professionals from the Republic of Moldova, the desire to become members of the European Union will materialize in the future.
"I am confident that with the help of experts, with the help of professionals from the Republic of Moldova, the desire will materialize as soon as possible, because it is a lot of work, that of transposing into the legislation of the Republic of Moldova all the agreements and everything that the European legislation entails. I want it to be as close as possible, but this depends primarily on the reforms that will be made in the Republic of Moldova, that is, I don't think that some steps can be skipped", said the MEP.
We remind you that on April 17, the European Parliament voted the Resolution by which it invited the Commission and the European Council to start negotiations for the accession of the Republic of Moldova to the European Union by the end of this year, after the fulfillment of the nine conditions imposed upon the granting of the status of a candidate country for integration in the community space.
