When will the second round of elections for the position of Bashkan of Gagauzia be held? What the region's electoral authority says

The candidate of the "ȘOR" party, Evghenia Guțul, and Grigori Uzun, backed by the Party of Socialists, will face each other in the second round of the elections for Bashkan of Gagauzia, which will most likely take place on May 14, the chairwoman of the Central Electoral Council of Gagauzia, Iana Covalenco, told Radio Moldova.

According to her, some 57.8% of all voters turned out at the polls, which means that the elections are valid.

"The Central Electoral Commission this week will name the date of the second round of the Bashkan elections. As far as the People's Assembly is concerned, the elections have been completed and one candidate has emerged from the first round. In constituency 17, Ianioglo Petru was elected, and in constituency 9 - Savastin Mihail", said Iana Covalenco.

According to preliminary data, Grigorii Uzun got the most votes - 26.43% and Evghenia Guțul - 26.41%. They are followed by Victor Petrov with 16.2%, Dmitrii Croitor - 10.4% and the rest of the contestants have less than 10% of the votes.

The highest turnout was in the village of Budjak, where 73.4% of voters turned out at the polls. The most passive were the inhabitants of the village of Baurci, where the turnout was 49.9%.

On Sunday, elections were held in the Gagauz autonomy for the Bashkan, as well as for deputies to the People's Assembly in the Vulcanesti and Cioc-Maidan constituencies.
