Government approves the signing of bilateral agreements on reconstruction of three bridges over the Prut
The Government approved the signing of bilateral Agreements between Romania and the Republic of Moldova regarding the reconstruction and rehabilitation of cross-border bridges over the Prut River. It is about the construction of a new bridge from Leușeni-Albita and the rehabilitation of the Sculeni-Sculeni and Cahul-Oancea bridges. The documents are to be signed in the first half of May.

"These bridges will ensure the mobility of both people and means of transport, they will ensure the fluidity of road transport, but also the interconnection between the networks and road infrastructure of the Republic of Moldova and the EU infrastructure, implicitly Romania's infrastructure. Also, the TNT European transport network will be developed and, directly, we will bring economic advantages by streamlining the traffic of goods and boosting external commercial activities", declared the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Lilia Dabija.
The minister said that all expenses for the rehabilitation of the bridges will be borne by the Romanian state, with the Republic of Moldova having the task of covering the costs of the access infrastructure and modernization of the border points.
We remind that the Sculeni and Cahul bridges were built back in 1964, and the Leușeni one in 1958.
