Deputies meet in special session. On the agenda is the 2023 draft budget law
Deputies are meeting today in a special session, starting at 9:00 a.m., to discuss the draft law on the state budget and the budget-fiscal policy for 2023.
According to the project, state budget revenues in 2023 will be approximately 65 billion lei, over 9% higher than this year, and expenses are forecast at 83 billion lei, almost 13% higher compared to the year 2021. The budget law for next year also provides for the salary increase of budget workers by 1 thousand 300 lei and the indexation of pensions by 14 percent. The government proposes a series of changes in the budgetary-fiscal policy. Thus, the excise taxes for cigarettes and alcohol will increase by 25 and 15 percent, respectively, measures that would bring almost 700 million lei to the budget. The estimates of the Ministry of Finance show that the year 2023 will be a complicated one due to the multiple crises affecting the Republic of Moldova. The Minister of Finance, Dumitru Budianschi, declared that in 2023, the Gross Domestic Product will increase by 2% and reach the volume of 308 billion lei. Average inflation would be 15.7 percent.
