Vladimir Bolea: Transport costs for exports to Romania have increased about 6 times
Transport costs for exports from the Republic of Moldova to Romania have increased about six times due to the war in Ukraine, which has affected logistics chains. The statement was made by the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, Vladimir Bolea, on a show on TVR1.
"Until these increases, even if we are talking about exports from the Republic of Moldova to Romania, if we are talking about Chisinau-Iași, it reached 450-500 euros, now it exceeds 3000. Carriers are a little, super requested, I think they have increased the price a lot for that before in 48 hours they made a round trip and now in 48 hours they barely make it through customs. If, for example, he used to do 4/5 routes in a month, even if we are talking about the Moldova-Romania segment, he now does it twice. Obviously, he cannot cover his expenses", the minister declared.
Vladimir Bolea predicts a good year in terms of agricultural production. But, according to the deputy prime minister, the lack of sales markets, the drop in prices for agri-food products and high transport costs remain the problems that affect Moldovan farmers, and the relevant authorities are looking for solutions in this regard.
