The money will be used to finance equipment, goods and non-lethal services of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova, including technical training, upon request. Approved equipment includes aerial surveillance, mobility and transportation, logistics, command and control, and cyber defense equipment.

According to a press release of the Council of the European Union, based on previous support, the latest assistance measures will contribute to increasing the operational effectiveness of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova and the Georgian Defense Forces and will boost their compliance with EU standards and interoperability, thereby enabling better protection of civilians during crises and emergencies.

The measures also aim to strengthen Moldovan and Georgian capacities in terms of their participation in EU military missions and operations in third countries.

The assistance measure was requested by the Republic of Moldova on February 6, 2023 and complements the 40 million euro assistance measure adopted in June 2022 and the 7 million euro assistance measure adopted in December 2021.
