Andrei Spînu gives assurances that Moldova is no longer dependent on Russian natural gas
The Republic of Moldova is no longer dependent on natural resources from the Russian Federation, former Minister of Infrastructure Andrei Spînu told Jurnal TV. According to him, our country has come through the last two winters, the most complicated in its history. At the same time, he also stressed that Chisinau should completely give up natural gas purchased from Russian supplier Gazprom.
"Moldova is no longer or can no longer be blackmailed by the Russian Federation until the government I was part of. I feel responsible that we have passed the country through two of the most complicated winters since our independence. Yes, it was a very complicated period, we are now in a situation where we have predictability in both electricity and gas."
Andrei Spînu also said that when gas stocks purchased at high prices are exhausted, tariffs for domestic consumers will also fall. At present, end consumers pay 29.27 lei for a cubic metre of gas.
