EU Ambassador in Chisinau: the European Union will soon present the list of persons sanctioned for attempts to destabilize the Republic of Moldova
The European Union will soon present the list of persons subject to sanctions for destabilizing and undermining the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. The statement was made for TVR Moldova by the EU ambassador in Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks.
The official stated that these measures are possible due to the fairly rapid adoption by the European Union of the sanctions mechanism.
"The decision was recently taken by the European Union to create a framework of sanctions for those who threaten the sovereignty of the Republic of Moldova. We now have the legal framework agreed and ongoing work to establish the names of those who fall under these criteria and who will be subject to sanctions. I can't say exactly when we will have the first names on this list, but I assume it will be soon, because this sanctions mechanism was implemented quite quickly," Janis Mazeiks said.
We remind you that, on April 28, the Council of the European Union approved a new regime of sanctions for the destabilizing actions of the Republic of Moldova. It provides for the freezing of assets, the ban on providing funds to individuals and legal entities included in the Brussels sanctions list, as well as the ban on the entry into the European Union of persons suspected of supporting and carrying out actions to destabilize the Republic of Moldova.
Now, the European Union is working on drawing up the list of sanctions.
